Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams is considered to be the most famous photographer of all time and is known for his dramatically lit black and white photos. Before attending private school, Ansel was tutored by his father and aunt at home, since he was not successful at any of the schools his family sent him to. He taught himself to play the piano, but later abandoned his musical career for his photography one. However, his musical artistry had a large impact on the pictures he took. Ansel was an environmentalist as well as a photographer. A member of the Sierra Club, Ansel Adams' first fully-visualized photograph, "Monolith, the Face of Half Dome" was taken during his first "High Trip" in 1927. The High Trip was a month-long, up to 200 mile hike through Sierra, Nevada that was conducted by the club. Adams has an eager relentlessness for the pursuit of taking the best photos. Often he worked 18-hours or more for days and weeks on end. He was a consultant for many other great photographers and camera companies, and as an environmentalist he sent thousands of letters to any of his colleagues, newspapers, and government officials he could. His photos appropriately captured the essence of the American wilderness.
I chose the photo above because of it's dramatic lighting and contrast, and the way the eye plays across the waves of sand that snake down the slope of the dune. The subject is so bizarre and unique that it's almost hard to believe it exists on the same continent that we do.

Panoramic Photos
I like this photo because of how it how it shows several different visual perspectives at once, unlike a regular photo. Panoramic photos like this give the viewer much more to look at than regular ones. I also like how this photo shows off the curving, geometric patterns in the street tiles and multiple sides of the buildings.
I like this photo because the panorama has made the area being photographed look like a tiny planet floating in space. This allows the framing of a relatively small area, as it stands out from the sky around it and features nothing beyond the "planet". The clear water and mountains in the distance give the "planet" depth.

Found Faces Story
Meet Johnny the Rave. Formerly known as the bland "Johnathan Robertson", Johnny the Rave has been totally transformed by the sweet wraparound shades prescribed to Johnny the Rave by Johnny the Rave's optician. Johnny the Rave is seventeen years old and lives with Johnny the Rave's mom and dad, Tabitha and Phillip, and Johnny the Rave's baby brother and sister, Landon and Katie, who are fraternal twins. When Johnny the Rave isn't mowing lawns for Johnny the Rave's neighbors or working Johnny the Rave's summer shift at Dutch Bros., Johnny the Rave uses his siblings' electronic toys to create dub-step music. Johnny the Rave doesn't really understand this genre of music, but Johnny the Rave is cool and thus needs dub-step to rave to. Aside from raving, Johnny the Rave likes to talk in third person, chill with Johnny the Rave's homies, shred on the the sweet guitar Johnny the Rave got for Christmas, and lean against walls looking cool. Johnny the Rave is incredibly good at looking cool and always manages to put Johnny the Rave's sunglasses back on and hide Johnny the Rave's special edition copy of Gone With the Wind well whenever someone passes the wall Johnny the Rave leans on. Truth be told, Johnny the Rave thinks Scarlet O'Hara is one rad lady. Reading and writing poetry (mostly Haikus) and fiction are two things Johnny the Rave does very well. Only Johnny the Rave's mom and dad know that and they are sworn to secrecy. None of Johnny the Rave's poems and stories involve dub-step, guitars, or leaning against walls. They're all either about the pioneers, the state park near Johnny the Rave's home, or occasionally Johnny the Rave's cat. Currently, Johnny the Rave is saving up to buy a used Delorian. For the license plate, Johnny the Rave plans to buy one inscribed with the characters: 575SOH.
